Poodles

Poodles have been known to be among French royalty and nobles dating back to the 15th century, this would probably be because of their elegance and intelligence.
They’ve been known, in recent generations, to be good assistants to duck hunters, in that they have great athleticism.
Today, they’re mostly known for being a great household pet. I mean, they do have a loving nature, after all.

Common Health Problems Poodles May Face

Generally, Poodles are super healthy dogs that live a long life. While they may not be prone to a long list of illnesses, they do have a chance at developing the following ailments:

Addison’s Disease: This rare condition can sometimes affect Poodles. Typically, in this disease, the immune system attacks the adrenal gland, in turn causing it to produce fewer hormones. Typically, your Poodle will experience symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and increased urination if they have this disease.

Arthritis: Arthritis can affect any dog, including the beloved Poodle. Of all the breeds of Poodle, the miniatures are the ones affected most from this ailment. Older Poodles and Poodles that are often active tend to have more serious cases of arthritis in different joints throughout the body.

Epilepsy: Epilepsy can affect any type of dog, including the Poodle breed. Seizures tend to happen quite often with this disease. Such seizures can vary when it comes to length and intensity.

Sebaceous Adenitis: Miniature and Toy Poodles are the targets for this ailment. Typically, this condition is caused by inflammation of the sebaceous glands of the skin. As a result, the mini or toy Poodle will experience hair loss and/or skin infections. Generalized skin irritation may occur, too.

Toy, mini, and standard Poodles all face similar, yet different, problems. Those can be found listed here.

How Can CBD Oil Help?

Before you think the worst about CBD oil, make sure you’re aware that CBD oil cannot, by any means, get your Poodle high. It’s completely safe and all-natural for your pup to take in. No side effects occur.
Though the use of CBD oil can help your Poodle in a variety of cases, we’ll only talk about a couple below. Let’s see what CBD oil has to offer your Poodle.

Sebaceous Adenitis: CBD can help this, and other skin problems, that your Poodle faces. For this specific ailment, the most common symptoms are:

  • Spot baldness
  • Flaky hair
  • Dull or brittle coat of hair
  • Extreme itching
  • Scaly skin
  • Skin lesions

To help this condition, try getting some CBD balm or spray. According to studies, CBD oil products are great at improving skin health overall.
Patellar Luxation: Patellar luxation typically targets mini and toy Poodles. Typically, this disease makes the patella (bone in the knee) dislocate regularly. Thankfully, though this condition sounds mighty painful, it’s not as bad as the name suggests.
If your Poodle has this ailment, they’ll most likely only experience a small bout of pain when the kneecap slides out of place. When this happens, your Poodle may form some type of uncomfortable limp, and he/she may not want to exercise for the remainder of the day.

The bad thing about this disease is that it’s often accompanied by the ailment known as osteoarthritis, which IS as bad as it sounds. With the combination of these two diseases, your Poodle may be experiencing a lot of pain in and around the site of the dislocated knee.

Here’s where the CBD oil comes into play; give your Poodle a few drops of this and the pain and inflammation will settle down for quite some time. CBD Dosage Chart For Poodles
