What are seizures?

Seizures are associated with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. An example of a condition where seizures are typically regular would be epilepsy. Seizures that affect dogs with epilepsy usually target the normal neurons roaming through the body, resulting in a range of signs and symptoms.

Seizures have different degrees. A subtle seizure may have the dog to stare for a long period of time, blink rapidly, or hyperventilate. A severe seizure may have the dog break out in an uncontrollable fit, shake tremendously, or lose consciousness. Some of the most common symptoms present in dogs that have seizures are sudden collapsing, excessive drooling or foaming at the mouth, loss of bowel or bladder functions, severe stiffness, and twitching or jerking motions.

Though seizures are temporary, they can last for a long period of time.

What is a good treatment plan to follow to prevent seizures in dogs?

Though it’s not fully out there and on the market as a healing aid just yet, it is starting to make it’s way to fame. What is it that I’m talking about? CBD oil.

CBD oil has been known to reduce pain and inflammation, but there’s so much more to the little substance. According to much research, this oil has been highly-regarded for its super strong anticonvulsant properties. What does that mean? It means that this natural alternative to medicine can actually calm the seizures down in your pup. Even the American Epilepsy Society gave a public statement regarding the matter, stating that CBD physically helps reduce epileptic seizures. This prevention has as high as a 45% success rate.

Should you try CBD oil for your dog?

The answer to that question is absolutely. It’s been proven to work on both dogs and humans alike. This is mainly because both dogs and humans have an endocannabinoid system, meaning they respond the same way we do to cannabinoids. What’s more is that CBD oil is actually regarded as a well-tolerated supplement for dogs to use with a variety of conditions.

I bet there is one question you’re really considering right about now: Won’t CBD get my dog high? The answer to that is absolutely not, but I understand your concern. Trying CBD oil for your dog is a huge step, especially considering it’s just recently become popular. Rest assured that your dog will not be high after having CBD in their system, and that’s because there is no THC in the products.

Let me explain. Marijuana is made up of both THC and CBD, with CBD being the substance containing all of the healing properties. Try it out, you won’t regret it for a second and your dog will thank you tremendously.
